What is Pelvic Floor Therapy?

Many women are surprised that treatment of pelvic floor issues often involves the assessment and treatment of the entire trunk from the pelvis to the top of the rib cage. Your entire body from your feet up to your neck, nervous system, digestive system, and hormone system all impact your pelvic floor and pelvic organs. After taking time to fully listen to your concerns and health history, our pelvic health therapists will provide gentle bodywork to all areas of need, as well as work directly with you choosing exercises and strategies to help you reach your goals.

Helping you heal better with us, your therapist will incorporate what matters most to you, helping you feel better and get back to the life you want to live.

  • “I have been living with debilitating pain in my left hip for well over a year that prevented me from sitting, exercising, sleeping, or even getting up without intense discomfort. After being told by my doctors and physical therapists that I would “just have to live with this,” I turned to Julie … My hip is back to normal: I can sit on the floor to play with my son, work out regularly, sleep pain‑free, and function like I used to. Julie truly gave me my life back."

  • “Not all pelvic floor physical therapists are created equal. I saw a different pelvic floor PT for a few months after the birth of my first daughter and I was disappointed, frustrated, and not getting better… I can now enjoy sex pain free and I can go on a run without being in excruciating pain for days after. I tell everyone to go to a pelvic floor PT after giving birth and to go specifically to Lady Bits…I have a nasty scar that ended up restricting my milk supply on that side when I had my first baby, so much so that I had to supplement with formula. Andrea noticed the scar and offered to release the scar for me. With my second, because of Andreas work, my supply on that side matched my other side and I was able to exclusively breastfeed my second with no problems. What they do at Lady Bits can only be described as magic…”

  • As a new mother navigating the delicate path of postpartum recovery after a complicated C-section, I found myself in the caring hands of Andrea, a therapist whose expertise and compassion have truly been a cornerstone of my recovery journey...She approached my recovery with a level of understanding that went beyond mere professionalism. Never once did I feel judged or inadequate; instead, Andrea offered a steady hand and a compassionate heart, guiding me through each step of the process with unwavering support…

  • “Before Andrea and I worked together, I couldn't do newborn/new mom life. I couldn't sit in chairs, I walked around with a doughnut to sit on, I couldn't sit and nurse (I had to lay down), I couldn't do tummy time with my baby…my lowerback/tailbone/pelvis would just quit on me…I had the sensation of a hot iron being driven from my tailbone up into my lower back every time I sat. Driving in a car was painful, sitting in a car and riding over potholes (hello Sacramento streets) was excruciating. I had no way or knowledge of how to make that pain stop, let alone heal, let alone exercise because I was in so much pain… Today I can do all the things! I don't worry about sitting anywhere, I don't have to carry a doughnut to sit on, I can run/play/laugh with my toddler like I was meant to do.”
