Spring a Leak?

How many times have you laughed with your girlfriends about a little dribble since having your kids? Although it's common to experience a little leaking after having a baby,during menopause, or exercising, it's not normal.  

Types of Leaking:

Stress Urinary Incontinence: Involuntary loss of urine with increases in intraabdominal pressure, such as running, laughing, coughing, sexual intercourse, walking, hiking, etc. 

Urge Urinary Incontinence: Involuntary loss of urine, small amounts or entire bladder, with a strong urge to urinate. This is usually set off by triggers such as cold weather, running water, key in the door, pulling into the driveway, or even seeing a toilet. 

Mixed incontinence: A combination of stress and urge leaking. 

Nocturnal Enuresis: Leaking urine at night while sleeping.

What if I pee during an exam or procedure?

This is okay if it happens- this is why you are coming for help. Just like having weak shoulder muscles limits how much weight you can carry; your pelvic floor muscles may not be strong-or flexible enough- for their job.  Breath.  You will overcome each obstacle with an empathetic therapist who is sensitive with a good sense of humor to keep you laughing. 

How long will take for me to start having improvement?

Every lady is unique and different, so there is no easy rule to predict outcomes without a complete medical review and physical exam. However, often your control improves after a few weeks of good practice, sometimes much quicker depending on the cause of the leaking. 

What if I've been leaking for 20 years or more, is it too late?
